Artist Susan Metrican explores motifs that have been translated across multiple formats; folktales, textiles, 体系结构, and small useful objects which allow the symbols and characters to connect and continue “traveling” through time and space. She considers the movement of interpreted ideas onto various forms across national borders and throughout history, and their shape-shifting reanimation as they introduce new modes of being. 形成的流体方法, 平面和图像解决了这种多样性, as the artist’s lived experience mingles with her subjects’ own trajectories.

Artist Lisa Iglesias (she/they) will present an exhibition in Mazmanian画廊 and speak about her artwork. Her projects incorporate expansive histories and potentials of drawing and painting, take into consideration the translation of patterns, 跨材料的图像和手势. Mazmanian画廊 aims to foster inspiring cross-disciplinary dialogue by showing artwork that explores a variety of content relevant to a wide range of academic discourses. The gallery is dedicated to working with artists who have diverse backgrounds and life experiences so that the gallery programming is both representative of the diverse world we live in and furthers our campus-wide commitment to anti-racism.
